The Trevi Fountain is one of the most visited places in Rome. Its popularity attracts tourists from all over the world, and the tiny piazza is permanently overcrowded.
In fact, Rome is one of the richest cities for culture in the world. The city houses a number of monuments, such as the Colosseum, Piazza Navona, the Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia, the Pantheon, Villa Borghese gardens, the Vatican, and numerous other must-see attractions.
Just like other Italian cities like Venice and Florence, Rome is also struggling with the ever-increasing numbers of visitors. Authorities in these cities are launching campaigns to teach tourists how to behave.

The Trevi fountain has been suffering with tourist behaving
badly too. This year an American tourist was caught bathing
in the fountain, an Italian woman carved the fountain with a
key, and three drunk Australians poured their drinks into the
water.
Now one politician is suggesting the construction of a
"protective barrier" to prohibit people sitting on the edge
of the fountain. He says Rome's heritage must be respected
and protected, and he is right! The question is how to do it
without mischaracterising the wonderful sites.
His proposal has been submitted to Rome's authorities.
